Financial Adviser Websites On The Move.
There is a minor revolution occurring in how we access the web. In 2007 less than 6 million people in the UK had ever used their mobile to go online. Now there are over 19 million regular mobile web users in the UK, who use their phone’s internet access for everything from online shopping to accessing their social network contacts. For example, 37% of the tweets which are being generated are now produced using a mobile.
The drivers of this change are diverse and include:
- Faster mobile web access which has increased the breadth of mobile transactions now possible
- Greatly reduced mobile data costs due to ‘all inclusive’ web packages
- Increasing penetration of Smartphones which provide a far better user experience
- Dedicated mobile browsers which help deliver the improved experience
Of course these developments do cause a conundrum for web site owners. On the one hand they need to ensure that there sites are available to their users via as broad a range of mechanisms as possible (pc, laptop, mobile etc). On the other hand they do not want to incur the costs of redeveloping their regular site to address the practical issues of offering mobile access (e.g. the constraint of screen size), nor of updating two sites every time they create new content.
We have now developed a solution to this issue for any financial adviser who uses one of our websites. Our automated site creation technology can generate a mobile version of the site which mirrors the standard web site but which is optimized for viewing via a mobile. Additionally, any content that our site owners add can be automatically reformatted for mobile, while users with higher specification mobile devices such as the iPhone can choose to switch between the mobile site and the standard version.
